Masonic Location ‘St Mary’s’ Beverley East Yorkshire

St Mary’s was built by the Guilds of Beverley and is a large and fine parish church.

There are 12 ‘mason’s marks’, in effect signatures, in the crypt of the church.

These 12 masons probably finished the church and started work on Beverley Minster

as there is a century between the completion of the two buildings yet the same marks appear in both.

There are many greenmen in the choir

One of the most interesting carvings is that showing the ‘white rabbit’ copied by Lewis Carroll

for his novel, ‘Alice in Wonderland’
